>Goodbye, Hanging Baskets

The hanging baskets were looking a bit messy so I took them down.

Maybe if I’d looked after them better they would have lasted a bit longer but for some reason I neglected them this year.

Last year I potted up a couple of the Petunias that had been in the baskets and one of them survived the Winter. So I thought I might try and save some of the plants from this year’s baskets.

When I say some I really mean most of them. Well, you never know, I might get another year out of some of them.

I filled a big container with freshly sieved compost from the compost bin and packed it with the plants from the hanging baskets:

There are Marigolds, Petunias, Fuchsias and a couple of others that I can’t remember the name of. I think the Fuchsias will be alright, I have a couple in my front garden that have survived the last few Winters.

As you can see, the Marigolds are still flowering so I planted a few of them into the ground along with some Busy Lizzies:

If nothing else I’ll have a bit more colour out there for a few more weeks.

I’m going to let them go to seed so at least I’ll get something out of them even if they don’t survive the Winter.

I’ll let you know next Spring whether they survived or not.

Talk to you later,
