Lawn After Two Weeks

As you can see, the grass seed is growing better in some places than in others. The part that is doing the best is at the far end. This could be because I used a different, new box of seed for that part as I’d ran out. The seed I used for the rest was bought last year. I don’t know if the old seed is slower growing or if it’s just because it’s older that it’s taking longer than the new stuff.

It’s only been a fortnight so it’s not doing too badly.

An Update On The Lawn

Lots of grass seedlings are sprouting up now, a week after the seeds were sown:

Grass Seedlings After One Week

I will leave them alone for another four or five weeks, then I will level up the ground where the compost has sunk down by adding more compost mixed with seeds. I don’t know if it will be too soon to mow the new grass or even if it will be possible if the weather is too damp, I think I need to do a bit more reading up on seeding lawns.

I must admit it is nice to see some green where all those bare patches were. I’m a bit more hopeful that I will be able to fix the lawn now, or at least make it look a lot better.

I will post further update photos as it progresses.

In The Back Garden

Here are a few of the flowers that are blooming in the back garden at the moment:

There are lots of hoverflies around at the moment. They seem to be quite fond of the red Poppy.

Mini Apples

When I bought the mini apple tree, I thought it would only be the tree that was mini, not the apples.

Here’s one that I picked yesterday:

Mini Apple

Not very big, is it?

I was a bit nervous about eating it. It seemed to be ripe but as these are the first apples that this tree has produced I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Anyway, I took a bite out of it and it was delicious.

Mini Apple 2

A couple of mouthfuls and it was gone. I did enjoy it though, small as it was.

There are three or four that are a little bit bigger, the rest are smaller, about the size of cherries – I think I’ll give those ones to the birds.

I wonder if the apples will get bigger as the tree matures or if that’s the size they will always be.
